Thomas Warren is a board-certified psychiatrist. He began his medical career as a general surgeon and then worked as an endovascular surgeon for over 20 years, before adding psychiatry to his practice of medicine. Thomas practices from a holistic viewpoint and integrates mindfulness, awareness, group therapy, psycho-education and spirituality into his work at Insight Counseling & Training Center. Because of his own story of adversity and resilience, Thomas is passionate about the prevention of suffering, compassion fatigue, burnout and post-traumatic stress for those in the medical and other professions. To this end, Tom has been a guest lecturer at medical conferences to discuss burnout and resilience. He has also spoken at events hosted by local school districts to discuss healthy lifestyle options and self-care.
Thomas believes that building healthy and strong habits through discipline is a necessary component of psychiatric work. In psychiatry, there is no one-size-fits-all method. Thomas starts with understanding the person—personal circumstances and conditions, skills/strengths and weaknesses—and then creates a personalized, flexible plan that works for the individual.
