EMDR Intensives
If you've ever felt frustrated by waiting an entire week between therapy sessions—or felt like you were just getting into the important work when the session ended—an intensive may be a good option for you.

Overall Purpose
An EMDR Intensive provides a larger block of dedicated time—typically three hours or more—focused on helping you work through difficult experiences, memories, and emotional challenges.
Rather than fitting healing into fifty-minute increments spread across months, an intensive gives you the room to stay with the work: to get in, go deep, and come out the other side with real relief instead of a partial start.

Why Choose An EMDR Intensive?
Working through your issues in one dedicated block rather than in small weekly pieces changes the shape of the healing process itself.
- Make meaningful progress more quickly
Healing happens more naturally when you have enough time to fully focus on what brought you to therapy. Instead of spending months working through issues a little at a time, an intensive lets you devote concentrated time to your healing journey. - Stay in the flow
In a typical session, part of the time goes to checking in, reviewing the previous week, and getting reoriented so deeper issues are often just being reached as the session ends. An intensive gives you the time and space to stay engaged in the work without feeling rushed. - Less waiting between breakthroughs
When difficult memories or emotions are addressed in smaller pieces, progress can feel slow. Longer sessions let you continue working through material while it's fresh and accessible, often helping you gain insight and relief more quickly. - Dedicated time just for you
Life is busy. An intensive creates intentional space away from daily responsibilities and demands—a chance to finally focus on yourself and the issues you've been carrying, without fitting healing around an already-full calendar.
Who Intensives Are For
Not everyone can attend weekly therapy appointments for months at a time. EMDR Intensives are often a great option for:
- Business Owners
- Busy Professionals
- First Responders
- Military Members & Veterans
- Parents with demanding schedules
- Frequent Travelers
- Individuals who live outside the local area
- Anyone coordinating with an existing care team
Many clients appreciate being able to set aside a larger block of time and focus on their healing, rather than fitting weekly appointments into an already-full calendar. If you're already working with a therapist, psychiatrist, or other provider, we're glad to coordinate directly with your care team.
What Happens During An Intensive
Every intensive is tailored to your specific needs and goals. Depending on your situation, your intensive may include:
- Free phone consultation
We start with a brief call to talk through what you're hoping to work on and confirm an intensive is the right fit before anything is booked. - Identifying what you want to address
We name the experiences, memories, and concerns you want to focus on, and complete any prework together—typically finished within two weeks of your consultation. - Learning grounding skills
Before processing difficult material, you'll learn skills to help you feel grounded and in control throughout the session. - EMDR processing
The core of the intensive: EMDR therapy to help process difficult memories or experiences, at a pace set by you.
- Breaks for rest & reflection
Regular breaks are built in for rest, hydration, and reflection—you will never be expected to work continuously for hours without a pause. - Debrief & next steps
We close with time to discuss insights, questions, and what a good next step looks like for you.
Is An EMDR Intensive Right For You?
An intensive may be a good fit if you:
- Feel stuck and want to move forward
- Want to focus on healing without months of waiting between sessions
- Are looking for a more concentrated therapy experience
- Have experienced trauma or difficult life events
Why Isn't Insurance Used For Intensives?
Most insurance plans are designed to cover traditional therapy appointments that last about an hour. Because EMDR Intensives involve several consecutive hours of therapy and personalized preparation, they typically fall outside what insurance companies reimburse—so intensives are offered as a private-pay service. While insurance can't be used to cover the cost, many clients view an intensive as an investment in their emotional well-being—similar to other specialized services that require dedicated time and expertise.
